SHE

‘SHE’ is a body of work that explores the political and cultural dialogue of craft work created predominantly by women. This is represented through symbols, textiles and colours that make reference to the church, the heavy patriarchal laws and state interference within the prism of the constitution and control of female bodily autonomy. Taking inspiration from historic banner making processes by developing them more into hangings it aims to highlight the shifting and vexed place that craft occupies within contemporary art.
