Hogar

“Hogar”, which is the Spanish word for home, is a project that aims to explore the meaning of home, as well as the feelings and experiences one has when one leaves their initial home. Being Spanish I can see myself reflected in those same feelings and experiences. This project concentrates on the Spanish speaking population living in Dublin and the challenges they undertake in order to adapt to a new environment. In this project, 75 volunteers from over 10 different countries participated in a series of questionnaires, and video interviews which aim to explore questions such as: how would they describe their home, where is home is for them, how different their lives are in this new place, etc. Photographic portraits are also taken at their houses in Dublin, in which the city’s ongoing housing crisis can also be reflected.
