InvasoGuard
InvasoGuard is a toolkit used by the healthcare professional during invasive needle procedures to reduce anxiety and fear in children.
The InvasoGuard Kit contains a booklet of “Barrier Cards”. These uniquely shaped paper cutouts are designed to block the sight of the needle. It is placed in a specially designed tourniquet or shoulder mount which is applied to the child’s arm. These “Barrier Cards” are the first step of interaction with the child. The health care professional will show the cards to the child and the child picks out their chosen card. The card’s contents will differ depending on the age of the child. For younger children, the cards will be primarily colourful and picture based with limited information and as the age increases of the child, the content will become more detailed and the distraction will be through games and learning exercises.
The InvasoGuard Kit is promoting health, reassuring confidence in the healthcare professional and taking the sting and anxiety out of a visit to the doctor. The child will go home with a souvenir of the experience, would have learned about vaccination or blood-giving and the parents will be in peace of mind over the matter.
