It's all out there

My art practice is centred on the notion of nature as a supplier of natural remedies for the ills of humankind. I am interested in the folklore around and magical properties attributed to trees, bushes and plants. A key concern is the tension between local, natural, free medicines that are rich in folklore and mass produced expensive products that arguably do not work very well and may, in fact, have serious side effects.

My art practice includes the use of video, photography, crochet/knitting and sewing, clay work and the fabrication of purposed garments in order to create and document the tension between nature and the manufactured.

I am particularly interested in enacting meaningful encounters with members of the public in order to collect any folklore about remedies that they are familiar with.
