Circus Architecture

This work explores the link between architecture, territory, and intervention. Humour, the body, and architecture are composed in a poetic articulation of spatial politics that is resonant in avant-garde filmmaking. Through a series of performative research actions, key objects are activated in specific ways to form an effective event, from which alternative modes of critique are investigated through an expanded means of artistic communication. Central to the investigation is a defiant hula hoop which multiplies into a temporal dome-shaped structure that addresses the principles of planning and our relationships to the built environment. This architectural intervention is constructed as a live platform in dialogue with a previously-open architectural framework that was appropriated to explore a new politics of play.
