'Wild Things' a virtual event to bring awareness to issues surrounding wildlife in Ireland

When we began researching for our cultural project, we were in high hopes that we would be back to normality in time to have an in-person live event. Unfortunately, the pandemic was not prepared to allow this to happen. For my cultural project, I had to adapt to the world of virtual events.

I set up 'Wild Things', a virtual event to raise awareness and much needed funds for the benefit of wildlife in Ireland.

I identified three great Irish organisations that are helping Ireland’s wildlife to participate in a webinar event, organised a fundraising raffle to benefit those organisations, organised prize donations from multiple Irish companies and also collaborated with a “Twitch” streamer to host a live streaming event to raise more funds.

The webinar featured speakers from Wildlife Rehabilitation Ireland, the National Reptile Zoo and Seal Rescue Ireland. This involved setting up a webinar registration process, coordinating schedules and panellist access, and engaging with the panellists on their presentations during the event. Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive and I have raised over €1,000 that will be distributed to the three organisations.
