Representation Through the Looking Glass

This research focused on issues concerning gender representation in TV shows. It considered how some shows try to improve and show a more representative environment while others maintain male domination , underrepresenting women, creating stereotypes and reproduce cultures of domestication. The analysis of female representation focuses on the relatively new TV genre of Detective Investigations. Citing Anne O´Brien and Claire Meldrum it was argued that, some series try to overcome sexist ideals in terms of under-representation, typecasting, stereotyping and domestication. Nonetheless, even with some soft change, there is still much to improve.
