Framing Space
This collection of objects was inspired by the coastal landscape of County Sligo and the unique visual characteristics and materiality of that place. These screen and frame structures developed as ‘tools’ to capture, explore, amplify and respond to different elements of this location and the very specific material elements within the landscape.
As in landscape photography or painting, the screens capture and frame abstracted and curated views of their surroundings, highlighting and foregrounding specific elements of their location to create new viewpoints and narratives.
Through meticulous detailing and organisation of the elements and materials within each frame structure, the objects seamlessly blend into any setting, reflecting and framing multiple views playing with positive and negative space, transparency and reflection as methods of communicating space and constructing a new story about their location.
