Museum of Climate Change

Glaciers are melting, sea levels are rising,  cloud forests are dying, and  wildlife is scrambling  to keep pace. It has become clear that humans have caused most of the past century's warming by releasing heat-trapping gases as we power our modern lives. What will we do—what can we do—to slow this human-caused warming? How will we cope with the changes we've already set into motion? While we struggle to figure it all out, the fate of the Earth as we know it—coasts, forests, farms, and snow-capped mountains—hangs in the balance.

This project proposes to give new purpose to the Gaiety Centre building (ZARA, Warehouse and H&M retail premises) in the form of a Museum of Climate Change. The aim of this project is to raise awareness and educate people about the global issue of climate change and global warming, as well as to promote a fresh perspective for museums as a modern, multi-use institution that serves as a self-sufficient cultural centre and generates revenue. In my opinion, the museum as the old-fashioned institution in massive, classicist buildings that often overwhelm the visitors by a static mass of objects and artifacts presented in a boring and endless row of glazed showcases will probably cease to exist, replaced by vibrant museums that adopt the latest interior design innovations and incorporate digital technology into their design.
