We Haven’t Stopped Dancing Yet (We Will Dance Again)
‘We Haven’t Stopped Dancing Yet (We Will Dance Again)’ is a socially engaged, mixed media project that explores the newfound realities facing clubbers and their immediate communities in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
‘We Will Dance Again’ is a 48-page, A3 tabloid publication featuring six longform interviews with a total of seven subjects. Each interview is illustrated with an array of 35mm photographs, shot before the onset of the pandemic within the spaces mentioned throughout the text. The centre spread of this publication features a sequence of stills taken from ‘Raveyne’, a 60 minute audio/visual presentation that incorporates field recordings, verbal testimonies and a 59 minute DJ mix, curated especially by the artist. Intended to highlight the loss of human interaction within the spaces mentioned throughout the interviews, ‘Raveyne’ is presented alongside ‘Dancing (Removed)’, a series of four individual audio/visual pieces depicting four separate subjects dancing in their respective living spaces.
In their presentation, the audio/visual pieces act as forms of introduction to the subjects and the overarching topic. If desired, the 48-page publication allows prospective viewers to gain further insight into the subjects, their communities, and their newfound realities.
