Buildr
Buildr is a set of simplistic structures and joining components that allows children to express their imaginations with their hands. Buildr aims to facilitate the development of 21st century skills in primary school children aged 7-12.
Buildr consists of a deck of cards with different design prompts for the children to ideate and build around. The children build using large scale components, encouraging communication and collaboration to build large structures. The system works as all holes are 25mm in diameter allowing for lots of combinations. The wooden components are joined using the accompanying nuts, bolts and hinge joints. The toolkit also includes a specialised hole punch for cardboard or paper. Which punches a 25mm hole to allow for easy attachment of any cardboard shapes to the structured components, encouraging further creativity.
