Tile
Tile makes it easy for users to disconnect from digital technologies and connect with their music in a physical form. Tile consists of a music player, digital interface, and a range of physical media triggers (Tiles). Tiles are physical representations of albums and playlists. These tiles contain an RFID tag which, when placed on the music player triggers the album to play as the product backlights with a colour that is complementary to the album artwork. This creates an atmosphere in the user’s environment, encouraging a deeper connection between the user and their music.
The tiles can be purchased in-store or through an online interface and stored on shelves, in boxes or displayed as a representation of the owner’s personality.
Artists can release limited edition tiles with different materials, colours, and textures, which can give the user access to exclusive content and create a sense of collectability.
The player has a built-in speaker and control panel for a nostalgic, analogue feel but can be connected to external speakers and users can discover new music, create custom ‘mixtapes’ and more on the Tile app.
