Mia’s family and her cat Thorn have just moved from the bustling city of Dublin to the countryside, and Mia finally has the garden she’s always wanted. She can see all the animals from her bedroom window. But there’s one thing she doesn’t like in her new garden... the shed.

This project illustrates the imagined story of Mia and Thorn as they move into their new house and encounter the Irish shapeshifting faerie known as the Púca. The characters for this family-friendly storybook were developed, designed and illustrated using a combination of analogue and digital media. These illustrations aim to capture the wildness of the Irish countryside, and bring the mischievous Púca of Irish folklore back into storytelling.
