Dionysus Wine Venue
Dionysus is a concept for a City Wine Venue, showing an interior with a contemporary touch and sophistication that encompasses the warmth and aristocracy of a winery. The objective of this project is to demonstrate the complexity of designing spaces for a variety of purposes by synthesising the skills obtained so far in the Interior Design course.
The building is located in Sofia, Bulgaria, offering a venue that is dedicated to wine and viticulture in the country. The project revolves around the idea of diving into the history of viticulture, wine education, socialising through wine, experiencing wine through art, and simply enjoying it. There is a retail floor that offers wines, crystal decanters and glass sets, as well as a restaurant, a bar, a wine tasting room, a private wine tasting cellar room, sommelier academy, and art & wine studio.
Inspired by some of the world's most remarkable wineries, such as the Italian Marchesi Antinori, the Spanish Bodegas Ysios, the French Cheval Blanc, and the Uruguayan Bodegas Garzón, the design of this wine venue wants to convey a similar sense of uniqueness through its interior. This inspiration combined with the research into the history of the area and of winemaking in the region, allowed for the creation of a project that reflects the research in a manner consistent with the personal aesthetic of the designer.
An integral part of the design process is the choice of materials, finishes, lighting, furniture and accessories, which give the place its character and authentic ambience. Showing attention to detail, brands offering exquisite products are used - such as Giorgetti, Sicis, Visionnaire and Frato for pieces of furniture, Dedar fabrics for upholstery, Elitis for wall coverings, and Serip for chandeliers. Additionally, the use of stone, glass, brass, walnut wood and cognac leather set the warm tone of the interior design, which is complemented by the black Portoro marble, black steel and occasional use of blue quartzite and auburn-coloured fabrics.
