ReDirect Digital signpost based on congestion monitoring for tourist sites
Congestion in tourism is a well discussed issue in tourism. Tourist sites in Ireland are suffering effects on both environment as well a worse tourist experience. This problem would be reduced if there was more dispersion of people around a tourist site. This can be seen especially in trails popular routes becoming congested. This product aims to reduce this issue by creating digital signage that counts people going past allowing tourist site to monitor their site and adjust signage accordingly. Taking ideas from google maps the sign also displays congestion levels on the trails informing visitors and creating a more diversion of people.
‘Direct’ Uses a basic communication system between footfall counters screen and site managers device. Allowing a lot of possibility for sign to be used for other uses including advertising.
