Don’t Grow Up It’s a Trap…
My chosen concept for my final year display is based around the Spring Summer 2023 Macro Trend Full Spectrum, this trend explores full creativity, colour and expression using maximalism. I also had a deeper look at the sub trends within full spectrum, surreal Nature being one of them—Digital vibrant colours mixed with nature and plants are being manipulated using modern technology to create otherworldly patterns and colours in 2023, to see them in these unfamiliar forms or colours inspired the use of plants in my design.
Beautiful monsters is another trend that this concept is influenced from, by looking at this WGSN subtrend it intrigued me, I started to think of a juxtaposition approach for my idea by turning the carnivorous venus fly trap plant into a monster as a prop for my window display. After researching I found some more inspiration for my fly trap idea from the 1980’s musical ‘The Little shop of Horrors’.
After studying the colours the venus fly trap comes in which is usually green and an almost majenta like colour, which reminded me of Pantones 2023 colour of the year, This is what inspired my colour palette.
