Film and Broadcasting

Amy Fahy

Hi, my name is Amy Fahy, and I am about to graduate with a BA in Film and Broadcasting at TU Dublin. I have enjoyed my time on this course immensely and have found myself falling increasingly in love with the art of filmmaking throughout the past four years. Most notably, in relation to the creative aspects of the filmmaking process.

My fondness for storytelling has been fostered throughout these past years and I have found myself particularly drawn to both screen writing and cinematography. I enjoy how both mediums allow you to create and tell stories in different ways. Screenwriting allows you to paint a picture with words and cinematography allows you to capture that painting on screen.

The language of cinema is beautifully intricate and learning how to speak it by translating subtle emotions and foreshadowing through light and composition has been such a wonderful experience. Bringing those techniques to life as DP on projects such as Water Weight by Leah O’Riordan, has been both a creative thrill and an absolute privilege.

I cannot wait to see where the world of film will take me next and I am excited to continue learning throughout my career. I am incredibly proud of all the work myself and my classmates have produced this year and cannot wait to see where we will all be in the next ten years. Go class of 2025!
