Hi, my name is Leah. I am a filmmaker with a passion for Screenwriting, Directing and Producing. Ever since I could pick up a pencil I have been drawing and writing creatively, so I knew early on in my studies that I would gravitate towards the creative end of filmmaking. I have been so lucky to have gotten the opportunity to direct four short films that I had written during my time in TU Dublin, each of which I am incredibly proud of! I love to write emotive, nuanced narratives that stay with an audience long after watching. I have an ear for dialogue and enjoy propelling meaning through interesting conversation.
I am a huge people-person, and my favourite aspect of directing is undoubtedly working with the actors. I am very in tune with people’s emotions and aware of the intricate details needed in coaching an excellent performance. I have loved stepping in as a creative producer on my films, being heavily involved in casting and having a knack for scouting talent. I produced two other projects during my time in TUD and had fun helping bring other people’s visions to life.
I have taken on the roles of editor, production designer, script supervisor and sound designer on various films throughout the course and have thoroughly enjoyed each. Being an artist my whole life, I work well collaborating with a director as a production designer as I can use my own artistic skill to craft props and costumes. I have always had a love for music and doing sound design has made me understand the emotional impact and importance of sound in film. I have edited one of my own films also and found great pleasure in perfecting the timing to carve out the emotional beats. My passion certainly lies in the creative end of filmmaking, and I am extremely excited to continue this journey into the industry and bring many stories to life!
