aVoid

aVoid is a 2D, narrative-driven psychological horror game set inside a retro computer desktop. You start the game by acquiring a second-hand PC from the early 2000s. When you boot it up, you’re asked to create a new user profile and log in. But once you’re inside, you quickly notice somethings not right. Folders, images and previous chat logs are left behind by the previous owner. As you explore the system, you begin to piece together their story. But things gradually get stranger as you continue exploring. Weird messages begin popping up, glitches occur, images start changing and an unknown “entity” begins to contact you directly.

The game uses early 2000s desktop aesthetics to create a nostalgic and eerie atmosphere. We build the entire operating system interface from the ground up in Unity, making it feel like a real, old computer. As you dig deeper, you’ll uncover secrets that were never meant to be found, and something doesn’t want you to find them.
