After the Great War, 98% of the Earth’s plant and animal life have been wiped out. To survive, humanity has been forced to relocate underground and live out its days in “The Ark”, a megastructure with thousands upon thousands of floors connected by elevators. For the rich to stay in power and preserve themselves, they turned to bioengineering. They morphed their bodies in order to gain near-immortality from lab grown humans known as ‘the Lost Children’, who are harvested for their organs and life force. You play as a failed lab experiment that was initially designed to serve ‘The Ark’ as a bio-computer stored inside a skeleton, which would assist humanity. You have been left to rot on the lowest floors as technology continues to improve; you have been deemed obsolete and worthless. After several decades of languishing in a tormented state, you gain independent sentience and can emerge from your anguished stasis, promising yourself that you will ascend and reach the surface world.
