Interior and Furniture Design

Ailbhe O’Flaherty

My name is Ailbhe O’Flaherty and I have just completed my Bachelor of Arts degree in Interior Design, where I gained a passion for innovative and creative design.  My enthusiasm for Interior Design stems from my love for the arts from a young age, which has led me to create vibrant, personal, and functional spaces.  As I continue to grow professionally, I am eager to bring my creativity into the real-world.  Much like my final project, I am drawn to concept-driven design that tells a story, and explores culture, identity, and functionality.  I look forward to entering the industry full time and am eager to collaborate with other creatives, contribute to projects of creative exploration, and make a meaningful impact in the space of design.

For my final year project, I chose to transform the North Wall Quay office building in the docklands of Dublin into an Irish Folklore Hotel based on the mythological stories and tales of Irish history.  The Irish Folklore Hotel aims bring a sense of enchantment and wonder, immersing guests in the rich tapestry of Irish mythology and folklore. The aim is to attract people from all corners of the world to experience and immerse themselves in the rich culture of Irish history. I have designed this space that will allow guests to gain the full Irish experience as there is nowhere like it that exists in Dublin.  My dedication to this project is a reflection of my love of storytelling through art and design.
