I am an interior/ furniture design student with almost four years of experience working in a furniture store where I developed strong communication, sales teamwork skills. Working with clients has taught me how to understand different needs, present ideas clearly and maintain a professional approach. My interest in design comes from seeing how furniture and interiors can shape the way people live and interact with space. Through both my studies and work experience I have become adaptable and confident with working with others. I am excited to continue developing my creative and technical skills.
This project transforms the existing Boston Scientific office building in Cork into a multi-use community center focused on connection, wellbeing and inclusivity. A key focus in the design is light. Using daylight to create calm, welcoming spaces that support mental health and encourage social interaction, which is another key to my design. Using open layouts, natural materials, plants and adaptable interiors, my aim was for the building to feel accessible and engaging for all ages and backgrounds.
Located near universities, schools, homes and businesses, the centre will provide accessible spaces for co-working, learning, wellness support, exhibitions, events and family activities. The design responds to the growing need for community shared spaces following increased social isolation and remote working. The building includes study rooms, art rooms, large communal areas, meeting pods, a cafe, an auditorium, dance studios and a gym.
