Grad X

Dagmara Krzyszczuk

I’m in the final year of my interior design course and I am currently specialising in furniture design. I have always had an interest in art and enjoyed exploring various mediums and styles so choosing a creative career was a no brainer. Choosing interior design has allowed me to explore a completely new medium which involves working with the spaces we occupy as my canvas. My time at TU Dublin has taught me various invaluable skills in this field from research to concept sketching, 3D modelling, detailing, production, and rendering. While my work has been very experimental, helping me find my voice in design, all my projects are built upon my fundamental principles of logic, practicality, and a sprinkle of fun.

Recollection

Online culture and social media have drastically changed our lives since it took off in the early 2000’s. The constantly updating nature of the online world has and always will continue to inspire us with the everchanging trends and pop culture. The desire to be seen as “trendy and fresh” online has led us to faster rates of turnover when it comes to clothing and fashion but also our homes. This leads to an increase of waste both from industry and from the home and with current concerns over the environment this way of living isn’t sustainable. This project aims to target the next generation (Gen Z) that will be buying properties, renting, and buying furniture. It focuses on the nostalgic nature of the online culture that this generation has experienced while growing up. The aim is to use the same online culture, that influences us to constantly renew their spaces, to evoke feelings of sentiment and relatability which will encourage them to keep the products they buy.
