Interior and Furniture Design

Michelle McQuaid

My name is Michelle McQuaid, and I have been studying Interior Design for the last four years. Throughout my journey, I have developed a deep passion for design, driven by the beauty and functionality that well-crafted spaces can bring to everyday life. Living in the countryside has profoundly influenced my aesthetic, as the natural surroundings inspire much of my work. I find that the elements of nature, such as textures, colors, and organic forms, offer endless inspiration. This connection to the outdoors has led me to embrace the concept of Biophilia, which emphasizes our innate connection to nature. In my designs, I strive to create harmonious spaces that foster well-being and inspire tranquility. My goal is to blend the beauty of the natural world with modern design principles, resulting in interiors that feel both inviting and rejuvenating. I am excited to continue exploring this passion as I advance in my studies and career.

My aim for this design project is to create a specialised accommodation facility for older individuals who may be at the end of life or living with mental disabilities, particularly for those whose families are unable to provide constant support. The design of the building incorporates numerous amenities aimed at enhancing comfort and well-being, while also embracing biophilic design principles. This approach integrates natural elements, such as greenery and natural light, throughout the space to promote a sense of connection to nature, reduce stress, and foster a calming atmosphere. My goal is to create a warm and inviting environment where residents can thrive, feel supported, and enjoy their surroundings.
