I’m Nikita, a BA Interior Design graduate with a deep passion for creating spaces that feel both meaningful and inviting. My interest in interior design began at a young age, inspired by my culture and a memorable experience helping design a family Bangladeshi wedding alongside my cousin, who now runs his own interior design company in Bangladesh. Everything was handcrafted, from the decorative elements to the overall setting, and being part of that process gave me a real taste and insight into what designing interiors could be like. It was a moment that showed me how powerful design can be in shaping atmosphere, emotion, and experience, and how thoughtful details can transform a space into something truly special. That early experience continues to influence my creative approach and passion for designing environments that feel personal, purposeful, and inspiring.
This project reimagines the MAC building in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter as a vibrant nightlife and entertainment destination rebranded as ONYX Nightclub. This project explores how interior design can transform a cultural space into a modern social experience.
Located near Donegal Street and surrounded by restaurants, pubs, and nightlife venues, the proposal responds to the energy and character of Belfast’s city centre. The design introduces a nightclub and entertainment spaces across five floors featuring immersive lighting, multiple bars, dance areas, and live performance spaces that encourage interaction and movement throughout the venue. Alongside the nightclub, the project includes entertainment areas for events, a contemporary restaurant, and an exclusive members-only cocktail lounge designed to provide a more intimate atmosphere. Full disability access is integrated throughout the building to ensure all visitors can experience the space equally. Inspired by Belfast’s nightlife culture and the importance of inclusive social spaces, the project explores how design can create connection, atmosphere, and memorable experiences within the city.
