Emma Kavanagh

Emma Kavanagh is a fourth-year student at Technological University Dublin, currently completing her final year in the Bachelor of Music programme with a specialization in Pedagogy. Her principal instrument is the flute, under the instruction of Dr. Julie Maisel. Emma began playing the flute at the age of 10 and has since participated in a wide range of orchestras and ensembles. She is a member of the Knocklyon Concert Band, where she completed all her grade examinations. In 2016, she joined the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland, performing extensively across Ireland and internationally — including a notable appearance at Carnegie Hall in New York. More recently, Emma has been an active member of several TU Dublin ensembles, including the Wind Band and the TU Dublin Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by David Brophy.

Emma will present her final year recital at the end of May, marking the completion of her final examination for the Bachelor of Music programme. The 35-minute performance will feature three contrasting works, accompanied by pianist Danusia Oslizlok. The programme will begin with Sonata in A minor for Flute Solo by C.P.E. Bach, representing the Baroque era. This will be followed by Suite for Flute and Piano by Charles-Marie Widor. The recital will conclude with a modern American work, Aaron Copland’s Duo for Flute and Piano.
