I’m an Irish Photographer mainly based in Dublin. When photographing I strive to not just plainly document but to represent greater narratives affecting society. Giving a voice and representing narratives I feel are important is what drives my work. Photography for me is a way to help navigate difficult concepts such as Identity, mental health and climate crisis.
Revelations in Queer Consciousness is a project about queer artists and their creativity. In a heteronormative world, where many LGBTQIA+ people must hide or censor themselves, the importance of supporting queer art and safe spaces in which it is produced
cannot be taken for granted. In my many conversations with queer artists, and based on my own experiences, the creativity of queer makers is complex and multi-faceted. The aim of this project was not to cast specific identities as subjects. This project began with me attending queer events and collaborating with anyone who wanted to take part. Art in its many manifestations can and should be a space where difference is celebrated. It can also be a place for queer artists to express their emotions and frustrations from difficulties they may have experienced. This project mirrors some of my own experiences as a queer person as well as being a space for my own creativity.
