I am a final year design student focused on human-centred and inclusive design. My work explores how furniture, materials and spatial interventions can support emotional regulation and improve everyday experiences within educational environments. I am particularly interested in designing for users with sensory sensitivities such as ASD, I aim to create solutions that are both practical and empathetic. Through my projects, I combine research, prototyping, and material exploration to develop outcomes that respond directly to real user needs. I aim to produce work that is clear in purpose, functional in use, and considerate of the people it is designed for.

PressureNest ASD Meltdown Recovery & Re-integration Unit

PressureNest is a classroom-based meltdown recovery and reintegration unit designed for students in ASD learning environments. The project responds to the need for accessible sensory-safe spaces within the classroom, reducing disruption while supporting students during moments of sensory overload. The design combines an enclosed retreat space with a dual-function upper surface that provides proprioceptive input and deep pressure therapy. Dense cushioned Ribbed Cushions and Powermesh side panels allow for safe compression and physical interaction, helping to regulate anxious energy during and after a meltdown episode.

By integrating these functions into a single piece of furniture along with sensory, specifically selected Materials the PressureNest supports both immediate recovery and ongoing sensory needs. The outcome promotes emotional regulation, comfort, and a smoother transition back into classroom activities.
