Being a product designer at TU Dublin is all about solving problems and bringing ideas to life. I really enjoy the whole design process, from coming up with solutions to making prototypes. It's exciting to see things in motion and working smoothly. I was even selected as a finalist in the Engineers Without Borders competition, which motivates me to keep finding ways to make a difference through design.
Seekhna is an innovative product designed to facilitate English learning for non-native speakers through various engaging methods such as visual aids, communication activities, and problem-solving tasks. It aims to address challenge faced by non-native students in feeling uncomfortable in new classroom environments, this is achieved by promoting communication and friendship-building among students, Seekhna helps create a supportive and inclusive classroom atmosphere, which is crucial for effective learning.
The product operates by connecting a charging dock to a computer, where teachers upload information to display modules via an application. Each module is assigned a position within a word, allowing students to collaborate and complete words by communicating with one another. Real-time feedback is provided by the modules which helps students self-learn without feeling embarrassed about mistakes, fostering confidence and independence in learning.
Seekhna's display modules are highly customisable, allowing teachers to adjust character sizing, upload images, and display whole words as students’ progress and depending on the level of class being thought. Additionally, Seekhna enables teachers to teach multiple subjects effortlessly, thanks to its digital display modules and comprehensive app features that support various customisations.
The modules incorporate magnetic pogo pins for easy connection, enabling seamless communication and real-time feedback among the modules. The inclusion of features like E-ink displays and durable ABS plastic construction ensures usability and longevity in diverse classroom settings.
