My name is Ava Kelly, I am a Visual Merchandising & Display graduate with a passion for storytelling through my designs. I specialize in crafting impactful store displays/experiences that align with brand identity and drive commercial results which I developed further during my internship at Brown Thomas. I use my skills in Sketch-up, Layout & V-Ray to render planograms in preparation for these installations along with using Adobe Creative Suite platforms to digitally present my work.
My final installation at Brown Thomas titled Nature in the Metaverse takes inspiration from a combination of WGSN trends including Preservation Mode, Strategic imagination & Flex-abilities. This display looks at how nature would survive in a digital world which is highlighted by the pixelated butterflies. Adaptability is it at the core of the Flex-abilities trend which is emphasised by the flowing curves representing movement. The iridescence of the scene is a visual metaphor for adaptability: always adjusting to the viewers perspective.
The ‘breaking boundaries’ installation was based on a colour & accessory given in our brief. I was given pink clay and men’s shoes. Through trend research I aimed the window concept at redefining masculinity. The wrecking ball is representative of the ‘typical’ masculinity and how these stereotypes can be demolished.
