For my final year project I decided to choose The Bank Buildings in Belfast, a five-storey Victorian building clad in Red Dumfries sandstone. I have always admired the building due to it’s rich colour and grand proportions and previous to a recent fire which gutted the building it was a branch of the retail chain Primark.
I believe that such a beautiful and historic building deserves to be used for a more enriching purpose so I proposed that it would be converted into the redesigned Belfast Central Library and include a café, book store, computer suite, offices and art gallery.
