Archival Memories

We do not experience the world directly. Instead, our perceptions and experiences are always partial and incomplete. The recall of past events takes the form of memory fragments rather than complete narratives on the unfolding of events. Our memories are a combination of personal, familial or social recollections these things combine resulting in our own personal archive of memories. Archival Memories explores the relationship between objects and our memory, in many cases, the object is insignificant in comparison to the emotional connection we may have with them. These objects become physical milestones of growth, change and loss.

Within my project, I have curated a selection of objects from my childhood. Some of these objects frequently remind me of my past experiences while some are stored away and easily forgotten. I do not want the meaning of these objects to be disregarded but rather create a multilayered memory experience, hopefully unlocking some of your own Archived Memories.
