Each year the final year students on the BA (Hons) Creative Industries and Visual Culture organise a public event on a current topic of interest to them. The class of 2025-26, along with 3 Erasmus students from Spain, The Netherlands and Romania ran an art raffle titled Make Art Not War. The raffle was held at the Racket Space in the Bernard Shaw in Glasnevin, Dublin 9 on the evening of November 26th, 2025. This topic was selected in response to the ongoing conflict and humanitarian crisis in Palestine. The event raised €874 (https://www.idonate.ie/fundraiser/tudcreativeindustries) for the Irish Red Cross and specifically their Gaza Appeal (https://www.redcross.ie/latest-appeals/gaza-appeal/). During the event Sophie Linnane from the Red Cross spoke on behalf of the charity and the work that they do.
Bringing together visual artists and designers (Margaret Coyle, Niamh Murphy, Zuzanna Jedrzejcak, Norma Burke, Orla Geoghegan, Alex Nardone Walsh, Enola Schipper), singers (Joanna Yusuf), dancers (Jem, Dam and Evan), and DJ BouncyBall (Quentin Dunard) the event explored how creative practice functions not only as an aesthetic production, but as social commentary, documentation and protest. The students also exhibited their individual research on the topic through posters. This research on “art as a tool of resistance” considers takes a global perspective on the topic considering examples from Canada, Afghanistan, Ukraine, Palestine and beyond.
