Hi, I’m Saoirse Kennedy, a soon to be graduate of the Film and Broadcasting course from North Dublin with a passion for screenwriting and storytelling. Ever since I was young, I have been fascinated with storytelling. I would fill my days creating music videos and short films with my sister. This sparked my desire to pursue storytelling as a career, and I have not looked back since. This course has shown me the importance of creative partnership and the importance of diverse voices coming together to create a shared vision. I have been honoured to write and direct three short films and a documentary throughout my time in TU Dublin, each of which has further informed my creative decision making and visual style. I love to write emotional stories that reflect the world around me whilst placing emphasis on compelling and relatable characters. Before embarking on my film studies, I was keenly aware of my love for screenwriting yet throughout the past four years, I have also been deeply fascinated with producing. The experience of bringing a story from concept to completion, managing various moving parts to bring the vision to life, and working closely with each department to achieve a shared idea. It has taught me the significance of patience, positivity, and communication. Working towards achieving a visual dream and seeing that come to fruition has been a very fulfilling experience. Additionally, I have taken on the roles of script supervising, camera operating, and special effects makeup artistry. These roles have each taught me the importance of the intimate details of filmmaking. My passion lies in the creative and organisational aspects of filmmaking, and I am delighted to take the skills I have gained throughout the past four years into the Irish film industry.
