Honor Cure

My name is Honor Curé, and I am a final-year interior design student with a passion for creating spaces that are beautiful, functional, and accessible for all to enjoy. Currently completing a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Interior Design at Technological University Dublin. I have gained experience across residential and commercial projects through both academic work and industry roles. Alongside my studies, I worked as a Lighting Specialist with Hicken Lighting for three years, collaborating with clients, suppliers, and design professionals to deliver tailored lighting solutions and manage projects.

My interests lie in commercial and hospitality design, which inspired my final-year hotel thesis project. In 2025, I won SONAS Bathrooms’ Bathroom Design of the Year competition and was awarded Runner Up in the Universal Design Grand Challenge. I also published two features in the Irish Independent and spoke at the Ideal Home Show in the same year.

The Malt House Capsule Hotel

The Malt House Capsule Hotel is a conceptual adaptive reuse project that reimagines Dublin’s historic Old Malt House at Grand Canal Quay as a contemporary ninety-one-bedroom boutique capsule hotel. Originally commissioned in 1886 by Sir Benjamin Lee Guinness as a barley drying and storage facility, the building’s industrial heritage became a key conceptual driver within my undergraduate thesis project. I was particularly interested in how narrative-driven interior architecture could preserve and reinterpret the building’s history while responding to contemporary urban and hospitality challenges.

The project explores the intersection of heritage, hospitality, and compact living through the emerging concept of capsule hotels. Rather than viewing smaller accommodation as restrictive, I investigated how lighting, materiality, and spatial sequencing could create a luxurious and immersive user experience. The contrast between the building’s historic masonry structure and contemporary glazed extension also allowed me to explore ideas of architectural continuity, preservation, and transformation within Dublin’s rapidly evolving Docklands district.
