I’m Kate Hughes, an Interior Design graduate with a lifelong passion for creating spaces that feel meaningful, personal, and atmospheric. My interest in design began in childhood, inspired by my family and the experience of watching my own home come to life from the ground up. This early exposure shaped my perspective, allowing me to see interiors not just as physical environments, but as spaces that hold memory, emotion, and identity.
Professionally, I have gained valuable experience across high-end residential design. During my internship at Helene Broderick Interiors, I contributed to bespoke furniture design, FF&E selection, concept development, and spatial analysis, supporting projects through to final fit-outs and styling. At Cairenn Foy Interiors, I worked with international clients, undertaking site visits, installations, technical drawings, and design collaboration, alongside product research and digital content management. I currently work with Renaissance Design Studio, where I am part of the design team, customising interiors, meeting clients, and designing bespoke furniture while also contributing to sales. My travels across Southeast Asia, America, the UAE, and Europe have deeply influenced my creative approach, continuously inspiring my evolving design perspective.
My project reimagines Central Park Tower, one of the world’s tallest and most prestigious residential skyscrapers on Billionaires’ Row in Midtown Manhattan, through a refined interior concept centred on luxury, exclusivity, and experience. Drawing inspiration from Central Park and Manhattan’s geographical and urban context, the design reflects the city’s directional flow and the structured rhythm of the Manhattan grid. The proposal introduces a collection of high-end residences alongside a four-storey, members-only facility, designed to elevate the lifestyle of its residents through curated, immersive spaces. Each interior responds to its surroundings, balancing the natural calm of Central Park with the dynamic energy of the city. Through materiality, spatial planning, and atmospheric detail, the project explores how design can enhance both function and emotion. Ultimately, this work aims to redefine contemporary luxury living by creating spaces that feel distinctive, connected, and deeply considered.
