I am Isaac Comerford, a Photography Graduate with a love for cinematic storytelling through images. My work comprises of photographic narratives of experiences and candid emotion, symbolised and composed meticulously over a photographic series and installation to demonstrate them. My work is across a range of studio, street and portrait photography in a contemporary manner, with influences from the likes of Elina Brotherus and Jeff Wall. My artistic practice is followed by my love of cinema with Film stills, where I adopt my already cinematic approach to photography in the world of cinema. I aspire to make completed works that reach and connect with people, to hopefully make them realise something about themselves, as I have better realised myself while creating projects.
The Place You See
‘The Place You See’ Is a project capturing the feeling of longing and distance of a loved one. The grief of presence is the embodiment of this project, and the feelings are brought from the artists despondency and aching love in their longdistance relationship.
The desperation of flickering moments and memories string our love for who isn’t there to the present, bringing them close, if only briefly, is how we confront the pain of knowing or shared company is temporary. The project consists of a series of landscapes, taken along my commutes or my in-between spaces in which is generally my period of patience and waiting until my destination. These spaces, in which I am occupied only by my thoughts and are consumed by longing and the pain of waiting. The landscape photographs will consist of photographs at night, lit only by streetlights or surrounding buildings that are completely empty besides a lone silhouette of a woman, physically and precisely cut from the image, leaving only a person shaped hole in the photographs to accompany the surrounding empty space
