I have always had in interest in the worlds problems, its why I got into product design, watching people adapt in environments and create solutions depending on necessity is one of the core aspects of humanity and expanding that bare need into the modern world and creating solutions to everyday problems. A human beings ability to innovate is like a muscle, it must be put to use and stimulated in order to see growth and development and in ones own design.
Life-Boom
Life-Boom addresses the critical challenge of man-overboard incidents in the commercial maritime sector, where rapid detection, location, and recovery are often hindered by poor visibility, rough sea conditions, and the difficulty of locating a casualty in open water. The aim is to develop an integrated smart tracking and search and rescue illumination system that improves rescue response through a combination of wearable location technology and a high-visibility light unit.
The concept was informed by secondary research, field studies, and discussions with experienced seafarers and rescue personnel, ensuring that the design responded to real operational needs. Through iterative ideation, prototyping, and refinement, the project explored how modern design can be applied to enhance survival chances at sea. The final outcome is a practical, user-focused concept intended to support faster casualty identification and retrieval in emergency situations.
