My name is Matthew Gammell, and I am a graduate of Visual Communication with a keen interest in design as a form of storytelling and communication. I’m very interested in brand identity, packaging and campaign design, where I like to build a cohesive visual system that connects with audiences in a meaningful way. I often work with clear, considered concepts supported by considered typography and layout. My passions are branding, but I also enjoy working in print and publication design, exploring ways physical formats can enhance narrative and engagement. My aim is to produce work that is both attractive and functional, combining creativity with clear communication.
This project is a rebrand and campaign for Green Earth Organics, focused on promoting seasonal eating andraising awareness of the environmental impact of year-round eating. The project examines the disconnection between modern eating habits and natural growing cycles and uses design to communicate a more sustainable approach to food. The outputs include a cookbook, a digital platform, a promotional video and a printed insert for use in vegetable boxes. The campaign’s key part is the cookbook that uses seasonal recipes and education to help change behavior. The visual identity is informed by a minimal typographic system, a soft seasonal color palette and continuous line illustration, producing a cohesive and accessibledesign language across all touchpoint.
This publication explores willpower through the experience of long-distance running, focusing on the mental and physical endurance needed to push beyond limits. Drawing on the Barkley Marathons as a key reference, the project examines one of the world's most extreme races to understand how runners cope with exhaustion, pressure, and perseverance. The structure of the publication is inspired by the race itself, with ten sectionsrepresenting checkpoints, each combining extracts, personal accounts, and typographic exploration. A mapis included in the publication, with headings linked to points along the route, guiding the reader through ajourney that mirrors the runner’s experience. Through this, the project aims to communicate the intensityof endurance running, while exploring willpower as a deeply human experience of challenge, resilience, and determination.
