My name is Alanna Ryan Hamilton, and I am a visual merchandising graduate driven by a passion for creating engaging, immersive retail experiences. I have a particular interest in homeware, where I enjoy experimenting with texture, prints, color blocking, and repetition to build visually striking and cohesive displays. Alongside this, I have a strong appreciation for womenswear styling, exploring the interplay of accessories, textures, and silhouettes to bring looks to life.
My work focuses on delivering captivating, commercial displays that not only attract attention but also communicate a clear and compelling brand story. I am especially interested in how thoughtful visual presentation can influence customer experience and buying behavior. Looking ahead, I am eager to expand my creative and technical skills within the industry, gaining hands-on experience and pushing my ideas further. I aim to continue evolving my practice, creating innovative displays that balance artistic expression with strong commercial impact.
“Eclectic Garden” is a final-year visual merchandising project at TU Dublin that centers on the Carolyn Donnelly Eclectic brand. The project is in the research, concept development, and digital design phases.Drawing inspiration from the Worth Global Style Network (WGSN) trend “Eclectic Bohemia,” this investigation explores diverse textures, contrasting prints, florals, and embroidery.
This creative direction aligns with the Carolyn Donnelly homeware collection, which is recognized for its bold patterns and decorative details. Craftsmanship is emphasized throughout the piece, with each flower laser-cut to enhance detail and depth. The installation conveys individuality and maximalism, resulting in an engaging retail environment that elevates product storytelling and enhances the customer experience.
This project presents a digitally realized Coach store retail environment. Developed in SketchUp, it applies visual merchandising principles such as layout planning, customer flow, mannequin styling, repetition, color blocking, and organized product displays. A notable feature is a bespoke spray-painted Coach wall and staircase, designed using Fresco to enhance visual impact and narrative cohesion. Considerable attention was
devoted to lighting strategies, given their essential role in shaping atmosphere, material perception, and the overall effectiveness of the rendered retail experience.
