GradX Visual Merchandising

Anna Ryall

My name is Anna Ryall . I am a 2026 Visual Merchandising and Display Graduate from TU Dublin, with a strong passion for creative expression and design. Throughout my studies, I have developed a real interest in digital design tools like CAD, SketchUp, and V-Ray, which I use to bring my ideas to life in a practical and visually engaging way. I love styling, trend forecasting, and creating visual displays that feel both impactful and meaningful. My creative process usually begins with colour and mood, which helps me shape and guide my concepts from the very start. I place a lot of value on the concept development stage, as it gives me the space to explore ideas and build a strong foundation for my work. I’d describe myself as creative and always looking for new inspiration and ways to grow within the visual merchandising and design industry.

‘DECONSTRUCT BY ZARA’ BDS Show Graduate Competition London 2025.

Winning the British Display Society’s Visual Merchandising Graduate Competition at the Visual Merchandising and Display Show in London in 2025 was a significant honour and a defining moment in my academic journey. This project was developed in collaboration with my teammate and peer, Abbie Keown. Together, we were tasked with designing a pop-up shop for Zara, which involved creating both a digital concept and a physical display.

Our concept, Deconstruct by Zara, centered on a preloved, genderless clothing pop-up. The project aimed to promote transparency for both consumers and environmental sustainability, while encouraging freedom and comfort in personal style. By reworking preloved garments, we sought to challenge traditional gender labels in fashion, embracing asymmetry and individuality to introduce greater personality into contemporary dress. As part of the project, I developed a digital version of our pop-up using SketchUp and rendered it with V-Ray. Photo copyright Ronan Callahan photography.

‘MOMENTS OF REFLECTION’ Major Project 2026

I completed my work placement at the Dunnes Stores flagship located in the iconic Stephens Green Shopping Centre. For my Major Project display, I explored both the physical and emotional dimensions of nostalgia and reflection. In my experience, nostalgia involves revisiting familiar places and the memories they evoke. Landscapes and scenery consistently prompt recollections of significant moments in my life, fostering a strong connection to the past. This reflective process allows me to consider different chapters of my life, particularly my childhood. I often recall my childhood bedroom, especially the curtains, which created a sense of calm and comfort as the morning light filtered through.

‘Moments of Reflection’ is a display inspired by these personal memories, combining collaged imagery, soft landscapes, and calming colours. The concept is unified by a styled mannequin dressed in comfortable, durable garments, symbolising progression into new chapters and the creation of new memories.
