Mia Warren

I am Mia Warren, a graduate of BA Visual Merchandising and Display with a strong passion for styling, visual storytelling, and sustainable design. I focus on sourcing secondhand materials and clothing, giving them a new life and purpose to highlight the value of upcycling. I love working with natural textures and organic materials, combining the natural world with reclaimed pieces. I create displays that feel alive, layered, and authentic. Through my work, I aim to promote more sustainable choices and to demonstrate how impactful and important circular design is within art and fashion.

‘Forest Floor’

Forest Floor is an installation that explores the importance of sustainability in design, the natural world, and the concept of biophilia, which refers to the innate human connection with nature. I was inspired by WGSN trends ‘Plant Arrium’ and ‘Living Matter’, both of which focus on using natural forms, materials and textures found in nature. I was also inspired by Ninfa Studio’s incredible Moss Walls, created by artist Paola Di Legge. All materials used were sourced second hand, through Vinted and charity shops, highlighting the value of conscious reuse.

The use of wool represents warmth and sustainability, as it is a natural biodegradable material. The large textured forms emulate the natural patterns of moss. Through bold, tactile design, the installation encourages viewers to appreciate the importance of nature, and the value of working with the environment rather than against it.

‘Second Nature’

‘Second Nature’ explores sustainability within fashion and the importance of circular design. Through this project, I researched innovate natural materials developed by scientists, using resources such as pineapple leaves, seaweed and mycelium. Mycelium, a root like fungal network, is used to create a biodegradable leather alternative. Inspired by the organic patterns of mycelium, I created a multi textured installation using sticks, twigs, and paint. The piece aims to encourage viewers to think more consciously about overconsumption, and clothing waste, while highlighting the creative and exciting potential of natural and repurposed materials within fashion.
