Project 2: The Mobile Phone (Re)Cycle

‘The Mobile Phone (Re)Cycle’ is a response to the D and AD 2021 New Blood’s brief set by giffgaff. The response takes the form of a 25 second animation and campaign that conveys the 4 step giffgaff recycle process encouraging viewers to recycle their old and unused phones with giffgaff. The campaign features the aforementioned animation along with a range of digital display banners and Instagram story assets.

The visual identity for the campaign is distinct, bright, exciting and importantly, friendly, this is helped by the calm voiceover. It is influenced largely by 1930’s hand drawn animation while staying faithful to giffgaff’s own visual identity, colour palette and tone. The characters are designed to be recognizable and playful as they are a large part of the campaign. The information regarding the recycling process is conveyed to the audience clearly and succinctly throughout all parts of the campaign.
