Project 1: Unravelled
‘Unravelled’ based on the macro trend Homespun. This trend centres around a minimalist pared-back ideology, using neutral colours, sustainability, and craft. I designed a recycled, slightly rustic display which I installed in Dunnes Stores at the Swords Pavilions. The instore installation measured; 4 metres by 3.5 metres, the sheer size in the space gave it the impact it deserved. With the use of sustainably reused cardboard, I experimented with the different tones and textures of the material and created a textured collage effect. I constructed a twine mannequin and twine shelving to encapsulate the Homespun setting. In slight contrast to the nature of the material, I chose tones of pink, white and green to add a pop of colour. This installation showcases the successful use of conscious materials in our Visual Merchandising design choices.
