GradX Film and Broadcasting

Ailís O’Connor

Hi, my name is Ailís O’Connor and I will be a graduate of the TuDublin Film and Broadcasting course this year. I have always been passionate about creating, with an appreciation of art in any form. Growing up, my sister and I would create short films together and in my late teenage years, my friends and I would have fun making music videos and skits, which brought me to directing, filming and editing a video for my secondary school involving my entire sixth year classmates. I kept up my passion for videography and editing and began combining my skills with a major passion of mine, dance. I became the Public Relations Officer for the dance society and the knowledge gained from my coursework helped improve my media production skills. This love for dance, directing, videography and editing lead me to hit a major goal of mine last summer, where I directed, choreographed and danced in an Irish artist’s music video. I hope to work on more music videos in the future. Within the course, I have had the privilege to incorporate dance into several projects, including photography, live television production and documentary. I have also gotten the opportunity to write and direct a short comedy film in 3rd year. From the experiences gained in this course, I have found that my passion lies in directing, writing, and also working as a camera operator. I love bringing a story to life visually, whether it be my own or someone else’s. I look forward to working on more creative projects in the future.
