Hi, my name’s Ken and I’m a final year Film and Broadcasting student in TU Dublin. Over the course of my four years, I have had many roles that have given me in depth experience in the realm of film creation. I have directed and written a film, and I have done plenty of camera work. However, my favourite role was sound editing in post-production sound. I found my love for sound editing in my final year as it allowed me the opportunity to explore in-depth the different possibilities of creating fictional worlds using sound. For Reincarnation Street I created a sound environment that enhanced the “waiting room” comedic motif that is the films main driving characteristic. The film’s opening is visually blank, allowing viewers to use what they hear to imagine the establishing plot details. I continued with these sound cues to create sounds that enhance the comedic values of the film. Tech Cemetery presented a different challenge as it required blending musical composition with a sound environment that depicted the real world and a digital world. I also had to figure out what a robot would sound like in this digital environment.
