I am a writer first and foremost. My collection of short film scripts I’ve put together is what I am most proud of looking back at all my work in TUD. My main strength as a writer is relentless self criticism, which I gained from a decade of becoming more and more pretentious. My larger influences include Charlie Kaufman, the Coen brothers, Kurt Vonnegut and Thomas Pynchon. Though everything I read or watch influences me a little in some way. In addition I have an aptitude and enthusiasm working as both editor and sound recordist. In my time on the course I’ve edited 4 short films, learning a lot by doing over and over. I find the process of making a conversation natural very satisfying. After years of learning, I feel confident in putting together something of professional quality. I’ve worked on sound recordist on 4 films, also as boom operator alongside a sound recordist on 2 others. I’ve learned the hard way multiple times in regards to sound issues. Ultimately this has left me equipped for most environments. I’m also technically minded and have an easy time getting to grips with new hardware.
