I am Daniela Mihalescu, a final-year Interior Design student based in Dublin, with experience in both design and client-facing roles. I worked as an Interior Designer and Showroom Specialist at Tiles & Terrazzo, where I developed a strong understanding of materials, finishes, and spatial design while collaborating closely with clients to create thoughtful and functional spaces.
Alongside my studies, I am also a GradX representative, coordinating with students, staff, and external suppliers to support the organisation of our end-of-year exhibition. This role strengthened my communication, leadership, and organisational skills within a collaborative professional environment.
My work focuses on creating immersive, human-centred spaces, with a particular interest in wellbeing-led design. Originally from Italy, I am strongly influenced by Roman, Renaissance, and Fascist architecture, with my cultural background and Italian roots playing a significant role in shaping my final-year project located in Rome.
Accademia Armonia is a music school and performance space located within the Palazzo delle Poste on Via Marmorata in Rome, a former postal building defined by its rationalist architecture and strong structural clarity. The project reimagines the building as a contemporary hub for music, bringing together learning, performance, and social interaction within a cohesive and carefully considered environment. It is guided by the idea that music is both heard and felt, shaping how space is experienced.
The design explores the relationship between sound, materiality, and light to create an atmosphere that supports both collective performance and quieter, more individual moments of practice. A focus on wellbeing informs the spatial experience, creating an environment that feels calm, intuitive, and supportive of creativity.
