My name is Ieva Kilpyte, I am an Interior Design graduate with a strong passion for shaping spaces that are both visually compelling and purposeful. For me, interior design is more than just aesthetics. It is a balance of creativity, function and atmosphere that has the power to shape how people live and feel. I am particularly drawn to the relationship between colour, texture, form, and spatial composition and how these elements can be carefully combined to create interiors that feel thoughtful, immersive and emotionally engaging.
Throughout my four years of study, I have developed a diverse skill set including 3D modelling, technical drawing, rendering, concept development and spatial planning. Exploring a wide range of design styles, materials and cultural influences has strengthened both my creativity and design perspective while allowing me to refine my own visual identity. As I begin my professional journey, I am excited to continue learning within the industry, contribute fresh ideas to collaborative design environments and create meaningful spaces that inspire connection, comfort and individuality. “For me, design is about creating spaces that are not only seen but felt.”
My project ‘Hotel Burés’ reimagines Casa Burés, Barcelona, as a five-star luxury hotel carefully balancing historic preservation with contemporary hospitality design. Originally a distinguished Modernist building Casa Burés is recognised for its intricate craftsmanship, decorative detailing and architectural significance within Barcelona. My design preserves key period features and architectural elements throughout the building, allowing its heritage and identity to remain central while adapting the space to meet the needs of a modern luxury hotel. It includes a grand lobby centred around a dramatic internal void, luxury guest suites, a fine dining restaurant, spa and wellness facilities and a hidden speakeasy within the basement.
The concept is inspired by the design language of ‘Modernisme’ and Antoni Gaudí, particularly his use of organic forms, materiality and richly layered colour palettes. Rather than directly replicating Gaudi’s vibrant aesthetic, my solution reflects my own style, choosing refined, muted tones. A softer palette creates a calm, yet luxurious atmosphere. Curved forms, sculptural details, layered textures and bespoke furniture subtly reference these influences while maintaining a timeless and elegant feel. Inspiration is also drawn from Barcelona’s urban grid which is integrated throughout the interiors through floor detailing, panelling and seating compositions creating a cohesive hospitality experience rooted in both heritage and contemporary luxury.
