I’m Oisín, a Product Design graduate. At my youngest, my dream job was to be an inventor, and in many ways, product design is the modern version of that dream. I care about getting things right. My designs don’t just need to work, they need to truly click when used. I work through countless options until I reach that point - the point where it feels like only one answer makes sense - and I knowto trust that.
I thrive in making and testing my designs. The more I prototype, the faster things become clear, so I build, adapt, teardown, and rebuild to understand how my designs come together and what actually makes them work. I have no interest in making things that simply look good. I design things that hold up in their environment, and that people actually enjoy using, seeing every last detail through to the end.
Reel is a camera and projector system designed to capture moments between parents and infants, allowing them to revisit those moments together as projected experiences at home. It keeps attention on the moment itself, not on the act of capturing it. The portable camera allows for immediate and unobtrusive capture through simple, tactile interaction, with no screens to distract. These captured moments can then be seamlessly transferred and projected through the companion projector, turning them into shared experiences rather than becoming stored away content.
Reel is designed to be displayed proudly within the home, a cabinetry-inspired design giving it presence through curated materials and colours. The camera nests into the projector, forming a single object at rest, giving the system a clear, unified language. This way, Reel becomes part of the environment and the family routine around it, holding these moments in a way that is lasting rather than disposable.
